Cape Trail is operated by Capetures (Pty) Ltd, South Africa.

By creating an account or using the Cape Trail website, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Safety Disclaimer.

Eligibility

Cape Trail is only available to users who are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these Terms in their country of residence.

If we discover that a user does not meet the minimum age requirement, we may suspend or terminate the account and remove associated challenge results, leaderboard entries and profile data.

Use of the platform

Cape Trail provides route information, seasonal challenges, and community features for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to misuse the platform, scrape content at scale, or use it to harass other participants.

Strava integration

Cape Trail uses Strava as the verification mechanism for challenge routes. If you choose to connect your Strava account, you authorize Cape Trail to access certain Strava data as described in our Privacy Policy, for the purpose of verifying your route completions and displaying your own challenge progress to you.

Verified route completions are private by default. Cape Trail does not automatically publish your Strava activity, name or time on the public website. A public leaderboard entry is created only after you submit a self-entered time for a specific verified completion from your Cape Trail profile, and you may remove a submitted result at any time.

Strava is run by a separate company, and your use of Strava is also covered by Strava's own terms and privacy policy, available at strava.com. We can't guarantee that Strava will always be available, accurate, or working as expected, and we're not responsible if something goes wrong on Strava's side. We also can't be held responsible for any losses or damages that come from problems with Strava or any other outside service we rely on.

You may revoke Cape Trail's access to your Strava data at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Content you submit

By submitting photos, route suggestions, or GPX files, you confirm you have the right to do so and grant Cape Trail permission to display the content on the website and social channels. Cape Trail may edit, reject, or remove submissions at its discretion.

Communications

By participating in a Cape Trail challenge, you agree to receive operational communications necessary to deliver the challenge, such as welcome messages, Strava connection reminders, challenge progress updates, route completion confirmations, finisher notifications, and important safety or challenge updates. These communications are part of your participation in Cape Trail and are separate from optional marketing communications, which require your separate consent as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of Cape Trail constitutes acceptance of the latest version.
